The Department of Preventive Medicine is recruiting to fill a full-time Project Assistant position. USC-HEAL is an interdisciplinary group of 40 members including five faculty investigators, data collection staff, and trainees who pursue education and research dedicated to understanding and preventing addiction, mental illness, and chronic disease in vulnerable populations. The Project Assistant will report to the Project Manager and assist with data collection for multiple research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, California Tobacco Related Disease Prevention Program, and Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program. Specifically, they will execute data collection protocols involving collecting, recording, and entering data via face-to-face and phone based interaction with research participants for all active research projects. This includes administering surveys and interviews at schools and over the phone to youth and young adults. This position requires recruitment of research participants, screening, and coordinating/scheduling participant laboratory sessions.

Overall, the successful candidate will have experience working in a behavioral research setting, have excellent organizational skills, work well as a member of a research team, be able to work independently, and have good interpersonal skills in relation to interacting with study participants. The position is full time and requires 5 days/wk attendance at our facilities at the USC Health Sciences Campus in Los Angeles, CA.
Minimum Education: High school or equivalent Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Knowledge of data collection procedures and some experience with proposal preparation and production of technical documents.
